Circulator is the best. Adams Morgan route is my favorite
To Avi’s question RE the bike lane and church double parking:
The double parking is still going on irregularly. Folks at the church at 15th and Swann now tend to use legal street parking first– not sure why that happened, but it’s a definite behavioral shift. (As a 15th Street resident, by the way, I sorta prefer the double-parking approach– leaves the legal spots available for residents)
But I don’t think the introduction of the bike lane enters into it. The right lane northbound has not physically changed at all with the new bike signage– there are just big painted signs saying that cars and bikes need to share the right lane. Six months ago, when cars were double parked there for church, cyclists could usually just zip around them without leaving the right lane, or alternatively could scoot into the next lane. The same is true now. The only difference is that it will now be slightly more likely that there’s traffic in the remaining two lanes.
Speaking of insufferable parking and bike lanes…I’ve only recently moved back to DC, and I’m curious about how the bike lane has (or hasn’t) affected the chronic pain of the double-parking outside the churches on Sunday’s along the 15th St corridor. Has the double-parking been eliminated since 2007? has the double parking problem only become exacerbated since the bike lane was introduced?
Wahoo_uva – My sentiments mirror yours. The priorities of our city residents and elected officials baffle me completely.
If he had a love affair with a crack pipe, he’d have an easier time getting reelected. ZING!
Now Avi!
Am I the only one who doesn’t care that Hizzoner (Mayor Fenty) is a rabid athlete. Can LooseLips cover something more interesting? I mean, for real, it’s not like he’s been repeatedly arrested and had a love affair with a crack pipe… like some former Mayor we know.
Does anyone know if the sex club on 14th Street is now closed?
Does anyone know what is going on with the plans to re-do 17th Street? Isn’t there some sort of master plan? I seem to remember some public meetings a few months ago.
Yay! More dog park. I’m so glad this is what really gets people’s attention in our neighborhood. Not the rising crime rates. Not the local businesses closing due to the recession. Not the stale/stagnant state of 17th Street. Insufferable parking. High housing costs. Local businesses closing due to the recession.
BUT A #@$%ING DOG PARK!
My boyfriend is going, and I’ll meet him there.
I’m guessing there will be lots of arguing, and Circle Dogs will likely be very defensive.
There needs to be a SOLID agenda for the meeting to not get out of hand (sort of like it did last time) and hopefully a prepared Circle Dogs with real ideas to solve the problems.
I hope you and your boyfriend are able to go, Bob!
Anyone planning to go to the 17th Street dog park meeting? Will anything constructive happen, you think? My boyfriend takes his dog there sometimes.
