Wednesday: ANC 2B/Dupont Circle meets at the Brookings Institution, 1775 Massachusetts Avenue NW, at 7 p.m. Agenda here. Meetings are normally held the second Wednesday of the month.
Wednesday: It’s Veteran’s Day and the city will NOT be picking up trash or recycling. Veteran’s Day started as Armistice Day, which commemorated the signing of the armistice ending World War I; it was signed at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. (You know these things when you had a grandma born in 1898 who lived to age 98).
Thursday: The U Street Neighborhood Association meets, 7 to 8:30 p.m. Location is 1835 14th Street NW, 2nd-Floor Rehearsal Room. The Association normally meets the second Thursday of the month. More information at Yahoo! Groups.
Thursday: Via Free in DC: What Can We Do About Fossil Fuel CO2? is a lecture-presentation at 6:45 p.m. at the Carnegie Institution for Science, 1530 P Street NW. “Wallace Broecker of Columbia University delivers the Balzan Lecture on reversing the rise of atmospheric CO2.”
Saturday: Reception for Painter Kreg David Kelley, 6 to 8 p.m. at go mama go! at 1809 14th Street NW. Kelly’s paintings go up today at the store. go mama go! is on Facebook.
Saturday: Just two weeks left this year for the 14th and U Farmers’ Market. The final Saturday for the market this year will be November 21. Market hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
